I’m Alika, a movement artist specializing in ribbon dance, and I draw endless inspiration from the objects around us. During community events or in everyday life, I explore how items like scarves, teddy bears, ribbons, and trees can transform into instruments of motion and emotion.

Movement has always been my language as a movement artist. I explore dance through hula, blending abstract with tradition, utilizing ribbons, scarves, teddy bears, kids’ toys, home décor, and everyday objects — transforming the ordinary into something expressive and alive. My work isn’t about perfection; it’s about play, connection, and the beauty of motion in unexpected places.
Through performances and community events, I invite audiences of all ages and abilities to see themselves in movement — to imagine, to feel, and maybe even to join in. For me, dance transcends choreography; it’s a way of building connection, creativity, and community.
Welcome to Alika in Motion. Let’s keep moving together, exploring the art of ribbon dance and more.

On Friday, October 24, 2025, the Phoenix Japanese Friendship Garden will come alive with mystery, movement, and magic during its annual Yokai celebration—and this year, Alika Victor will be weaving her artistry into the night.
Alika, a multidisciplinary performer and wellness visionary, will present a genre-blending dance ritual designed to delight both human guests and the ethereal spirits said to wander among us. Her performance draws from ribbon dance, contemporary flow, and folkloric gesture, creating a luminous offering that honors the garden’s cultural roots while inviting fresh wonder.
Set beneath lantern-lit trees and surrounded by koi ponds and stone pathways, Alika’s piece invites viewers to pause, feel, and connect—whether with their own inner spirit or the playful presence of the Yokai. Expect moments of joy, reverence, and surprise as she channels movement into a bridge between worlds.

Whether you come for the folklore, the festivities, or the dance itself, Alika’s performance promises to be a highlight of the evening—a shimmering tribute to transformation, connection, and the beauty of the unseen.

Art isn’t just something to watch — it’s something to live. Whether through dance and movement, music, painting, writing, or participating in community events, the arts create space for connection and creativity. Everyone’s expression looks different, and that’s what makes it powerful. Movement artists, like those who practice ribbon dance and more, showcase unique forms of expression. Find your way to join in — because when we each bring our own spark, the whole community shines brighter.
