I’m Alika, a movement artist specializing in ribbon dance, and I draw endless inspiration from the objects around us. During community events or in everyday life, I explore how items like scarves, teddy bears, ribbons, and trees can transform into instruments of motion and emotion.
Movement has always been my language as a movement artist. I explore dance through hula, blending abstract with tradition, utilizing ribbons, scarves, teddy bears, sticks, and everyday objects — transforming the ordinary into something expressive and alive. My work isn’t about perfection; it’s about play, connection, and the beauty of motion in unexpected places.
Through performances and community events, I invite audiences of all ages and abilities to see themselves in movement — to imagine, to feel, and maybe even to join in. For me, dance transcends choreography; it’s a way of building connection, creativity, and community.
Welcome to Alika in Motion. Let’s keep moving together, exploring the art of ribbon dance and more.
I’m so excited to share that I’ll be performing at the Azure Concert for Autistic Kids and Families this Saturday, September 20 at 3 PM at the Tempe History Museum! This performance is extra special because I’ll be showcasing my skills as a movement artist by exploring movement with props — a teddy bear, ribbon, and scarf — creating a playful, sensory-rich experience for the children and families in the audience. My goal is to bring joy, curiosity, and connection through dance, demonstrating that movement can be accessible, expressive, and fun for everyone. 💡 Why I love this performance: Props make movement interactive and relatable. Music and motion work together to spark imagination. It’s an opportunity to connect with an audience that experiences the world in unique, beautiful ways during community events. 📍 Location: Tempe History Museum 🕒 Time: Saturday, September 20 at 3 PM I can’t wait to dance, play, and share this moment with the audience — see you there!
Art isn’t just something to watch — it’s something to live. Whether through dance, music, painting, writing, or participating in community events, the arts create space for connection and creativity. Everyone’s expression looks different, and that’s what makes it powerful. Movement artists, like those who practice ribbon dance, showcase unique forms of expression. Find your way to join in — because when we each bring our own spark, the whole community shines brighter.
I’d love to hear from you! Whether you’re interested in a performance, collaboration, or just want to discuss community events, feel free to drop me a message. As a movement artist, I'm eager to connect and share experiences like ribbon dance. I’ll get back to you soon!
